 Friday, July 15, marked the second annual Magic Valley Refugee Day. The event saw over 800 people and was a great celebration of refugees and their contributions to the Magic Valley!

World Refugee Day 2010

Boise, Idaho -- World Refugee Day took over The Grove on Saturday with educational tools, music, dancing and more.
Refugees continue to contribute to Boise's growing and diverse culture, and today was a day for locals to come together to learn about these newcomers. Also, the day was to highlight issues that refugees deal with worldwide.

BOISE -- June 19 is World Refugee Day. And in honor of the day, the Boise office of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services held a special all-refugee naturalization ceremony at the Grove Plaza.

Most people may not think of Boise as a common destination fo refugees, but in the last year, approximately 1,200 refugees have traveled from across the world to make the City of Trees their home. Read more

Time flies, and to refugees, a new year is always marked as World Refugee day draws near. This June 19 will be the third World Refugee Day celebrated in Boise, and every year something special is added. Well this year is not just going to be about performances and listening to Fidel’s poetry and wonderful speeches, or the breathtaking Nepalese and Russian dancing, but 25 refugees will also be sworn in and granted citizenship right at the Grove downtown. The naturalization ceremonies will be done at the event followed by refugee performances and speeches. Read more
