Idaho Office for Refugees programs in Boise:

English Language Center
​​Volunteers are an essential part of the ELC team. Volunteers assist ELC teachers by: 
  • Working with small groups of students  
  • Providing students with individualized attention
  • Preparing classroom materials
  • Contributing to a welcoming, supportive environment for newly arrived refugees  
Global Talent
Volunteers play a meaningful role in transforming skilled new Americans’ lives by sharing knowledge of U.S. workplace culture and expectations, industry insight, and best practices. Our job seekers are eager to benefit from your expertise and guidance. 
Global Gardens

Afghan Welcome Center
The Afghan Welcome Center provides services to the community including English classes, women's classes, and childcare during class. Please contact [email protected].

Idaho Resettlement Agencies & Community Partners

Agency for New Americans - Volunteer Orientation
Agency for New Americans resettles refugees in Boise and relies heavily on the support of volunteers to welcome new Americans home to Idaho. We believe in matching volunteers’ unique talents to the needs of ANA. ​
International Rescue Committee in Boise - Volunteer Application
The IRC in Boise is a resettlement agency that offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and internships, accommodating different time commitments and schedules. If you are interested in volunteering in the office, please fill out an application with your top three interests of the opportunities listed on the website.
USCRI Twin Falls
The USCRI Twin Falls field office has been welcoming newcomers to Idaho since the early 1980s. Refugees resettled in Twin Falls come primarily from Afghanistan, Burma, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, and Syria. Newly arrived refugees receive a comprehensive set of services including housing placement, cultural orientation, school enrollment, coordination of initial health appointments, referrals to ESL classes, and employment preparation and placement.
Glocal Community Partners
Glocal Community Partners is a Christian nonprofit organization in Boise that mobilizes, trains, and connects the community by welcoming and developing friendships of mutuality with people who have come to the Treasure Valley as refugees. You can become a friendship partner of people newly arriving through refugee resettlement, support a baby shower for an expecting mother, help with English classes, and more. 
Neighbors United
Neighbors United is a Boise-based collaborative working together on solutions and best practices related to housing, education, health, transportation and jobs. 
Artisans for Hope
Artisans For Hope is a nonprofit teaching Idahoans from refugee backgrounds to sew and knit for free in beginner courses and the opportunity to become advanced sewists. Advanced sewists earn a 60% commission on sales and do alterations for the public on Tuesdays. Artisans for Hope's studio/shop is open to the public Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1615 W.
