The Refugee Speakers Bureau of the Idaho Office for Refugees is pleased to invite you to our next storytelling workshop!

This is a great opportunity for people to connect across cultural backgrounds and gain skills for public speaking and sharing our stories in a purposeful and meaningful way. The workshop is open to adult participants whether you have a refugee or immigrant background or were born in the U.S.

When: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, May 10

Where: Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, 777 8th Street, Boise, ID 83702

Please sign up here. There is no cost to participate.

Details: The workshop will be led by Story Story Night Guide Jessica Holmes, a talented storyteller who co-founded Story Story Night in Boise.  It’ll be an interactive process with guide sheets to work through individually and group interaction. The process will help participants identify which stories you want to share from your life and how to do that in an engaging and compelling way.

Jessica will guide the group through:
  1. ‎Story ideas - Turning points in your life, something that changed your ‎perspective or your life, parts of your life that were illuminating or interesting in ‎some way.‎
  2. Writing – Get your story down on paper. We'll learn to shape a story from our life with a beginning, middle, and an end, with a focus on a theme to tie it all together.
  3. To the stage – Practice stage techniques and timing. Share our stories with others.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Dress code: There is no dress code for the event. Please feel free to wear whatever is most comfortable.

We hope you can join us in a beautiful and inspiring space at the new Wassmuth Center for a time of learning and connecting.
