All-Conference Cooking Class
Chinese Cooking with Ouxi
Join us for a conference-wide cooking class, modeled after our "Cross-Culinary Kits & Classes" series!
This interactive class will be led by Ouxi Zhu. Conference participants will be sent a link to call in to cook together.
If planning on participating, we recommend purchasing your dry ingredients sooner rather than later. The pork can be purchased and frozen, otherwise we recommend you buy it closer to the class date so it is fresh.

I was born in Wenzhou and raised in Shanghai, China. I came to the U.S. in 2010 for university. Food has always been a very important part of my life, even all my jobs are related to food industry. From wholesale food supply chain to restaurants, and now I am managing my own store, the Idaho Capital Asian Market. It is my pleasure to bring all those special products to the community and seeing customers leaving with satisfaction makes me happy!

FAQ
Where can I find ingredients?
Many of the ingredients can be sourced from your regular grocer. For the specialty items, we recommend you start with the Idaho Capital Asian Market, as Ouxi will place a large order for participants. Her market also has the pork ribs she recommends, and they can pre-cut them to the size needed for the recipe. Other ethnic markets in town will also carry many of these supplies.
How is the class taught?
This will be a (virtual) live, interactive class with a cooking instructor, taught through Zoom. You'll receive your ingredients, list of cooking supplies and other things you might need, and the recipe before the class date so you all can cook together!
Where is my Zoom link/how do I log on?
We'll be sending an email with the link for this and other conference sessions to all registered participants. If you do not see it, please first thoroughly check your spam/junk folder for emails from kfink@idahorefugees.org.
What are the recipes we'll be using?
An important note about recipes! Like many of our special family dishes, the dishes our chefs are sharing have been passed on to them by their family members and often don't have a written recipe. We do our best to create one for the class, but please know recipes in these classes are guides. The chefs look forward to showing you and discussing the process for cooking these dishes.
This is amazing! How can I participate in further cooking classes?
Check out our Cross-Culinary Kits & Classes! They'll be resuming this spring.
I have a question that isn't answered here!
No problem! If you have additional questions, email them to kfink@idahorefugees.org
