For Refugees

Afghan Placement & Assistance Program

Idaho has joined the nation's crucial efforts to resettle Afghan allies, individuals and families following the withdrawal of the U.S. military from Afghanistan in August of 2021.
  • Learn more about the pathways for Afghans to resettle in the U.S. on our Welcome Afghan Allies page.
  • If you are a family in Idaho who is housing relatives from Afghanistan and would like to connect with our office, please email [email protected].
  • The Cultural Orientation Resource Exchange has provided playlists on YouTube in Dari and Pashto to help new arrivals better understand U.S. cultural customs and systems.

Community Connections

If you are looking for ways to connect with other community members, here are some ideas:
  • Storytelling: Contact our Refugee Speakers Bureau to learn about opportunities to hone your storytelling skills and present at local events.
  • Calendar: Share your event on our Community Calendar. Send details to [email protected].
  • Refugee Restaurant Week: Are you from a refugee background and own a restaurant or market in the Treasure Valley? We would love to highlight you on our Refugee Restaurant Week page.
  • Annual Events: Participate in our annual World Refugee Day celebration in June and Idaho Conference on Refugees in February.
  • Activities Task Force: Help lead fun activities to engage and encourage new refugee arrivals. Contact us at [email protected] if you'd like to learn how to get involved.

Report harassment and hate incidents

Have you experienced harassment or are you the victim of a hate crime? "Communities Against Hate" is collecting reports and stories so they can get a bigger picture of incidents across the country.
"Led by The Leadership Conference Education Fund and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, we use the Communities Against Hate database to bring visibility to hate incidents and help survivors/victims and organizations obtain access to legal resources and social services. This database allows us to aggregate data on hate incidents, through partnerships with a diverse set of impacted communities including the Black, Latinx, LGBTQ, Muslim, South Asian, disability, Arab, and Jewish communities, as well as women. The Initiative also maintains a resource hotline: 1-844-9-NO-HATE or 1-844-966-4283.
To report an incident, visit the Communities Against Hate report form.
The city of the incident and your personal information will never be made public.
