In this training you will:
- Develop interpretation skills through the adult experiential learning wheel technique of outlining the skill, modeling it, performing it, and assessing performance.
- Learn techniques for effective consecutive interpretation in community settings
- Receive resources to continue developing your skills after the training session.
- Learn to apply the principles of the Standards of Practice for Interpreters and the Code of Ethics for Interpreters in real-life situations.
- Earn a completion certificate useful for future advancement.
ABOUT THE TRAINERS
Christopher Dimmick of MDtranslation will serve as the program coordinator and lead instructor. He has a passion for interpretation that is highly contagious in training sessions, which he has led from coast to coast since 2002. He has trained over 7,000 interpreters who work in more than 40 languages.
Chris holds a degree in Spanish Translation and Interpretation and has done graduate work and received instruction in small-group facilitation, learner-focused adult education, cross-cultural communication strategies, and experiential-based training of language professionals.
As a Master Level Certified Spanish Court Interpreter (Hawai’i, Idaho, Oregon) and a nationally Certified Medical Interpreter – Spanish (NBCMI), Chris employs unique instructional techniques targeting various learning styles and building upon each individual’s strengths. In addition to training, Chris consults with public and private organizations on interpreter performance.

Professor Fátima Cornwall’s academic achievements include a M.A. in Spanish from University of California – Santa Barbara, and a B.A. in Spanish from Boise State University. Fátima has many years of experience in different areas of the interpreting profession. She is a Federal Court Certified Interpreter, as well as an Idaho Court Certified Interpreter Master Level in Spanish and a Certified Portuguese Interpreter.
Fátima has many years of experience in different areas of the interpreting profession. She has been serving as faculty for different workshops and training sessions for new and experienced interpreters and judges for the past five years. Fátima is also a rater for a national credentialing program for interpreters.

Christopher and Fátima have taught together for over a decade on the faculty of the Idaho Supreme Court’s training program to prepare interpreter candidates to take the National Center for State Courts’ written court interpreter screening exam as well as the court interpreter oral exam. They have presented court and medical interpreter training courses in Florida, Guatemala, and Colombia.
